Veg Pledge Events
April 15th - April 19th: Stop by our information table in the Retreat to pick up some literature, check out our diorama, and get some free Veg Pledge pins!
Monday - April 22nd: We're kicking off the Veg Pledge (and celebrating Meatless Monday) with a special Vegan Dinner at ACDC Monday night from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. Join us as we start the week by celebrating healthy, delicious, and environmentally-friendly animal-free foods. Click here for more information and to see the menu.
Friday - April 27th: VARC is hosting another Wild Edibles Walk on Vassar Campus led by Zaac Chaves, a Connecticut based forager, vegan, writer and a nationally recognized bicyclist for his travels to northern Quebec. Meet in Main Circle at 3:00 pm. Click here for more information.

- 1 calorie of animal protein requires 11 times as much fossil fuels as 1 calorie of plant protein
- A vegan diet requires an average of 300 gallons of water per day while a meat-containing diet requires an average of 4,000 gallons of water per day
- Raising animals for food uses 30% of the Earth's land mass
- 70% of grain and cereals grown in the U.S. are fed to farmed animals
- It takes up to 16 pounds of grain to produce 1 pound of meat
